Breathing New Life into My 2013 Acura RDX with a CarPlay Upgrade

When I moved to Canada in early 2022, one of my first steps was getting a reliable car to help with my daily commute. I opted for a used 2013 Acura RDX, a well-maintained vehicle that was just what I needed. The car met all my requirements, but it had one glaring issue: the outdated infotainment system.

The display screen, positioned right in the prime spot, couldn’t connect to my phone, and the navigation maps were long outdated. It seemed like a waste of space and potential, so I started searching for a solution to bring this screen into the modern age. After some research, I found a product that sounded perfect – a CarPlay Interface designed for my car. It promised to add full CarPlay functionality without replacing the entire infotainment system.

In June, I decided to take the plunge and purchased the CarPlay Interface. The installation process was unfamiliar territory for me, but with some determination and a few YouTube tutorials, I spent a few hours setting it up myself. Finally, my Acura had a sleek, fully functional CarPlay setup that brought it up to par with modern vehicles.

Thanks to this affordable upgrade, my 2013 Acura RDX now boasts a CarPlay system that would typically be found in much newer, pricier models. It’s been an incredibly satisfying project – a simple investment that’s brought new convenience and enjoyment to my daily drives
